Grand Slam by J.T. Cheyanne5/30/2023 One that threatened to be as powerful, if not more so, than the first.”įind out more about J.T. His first love since grade school jeopardized a budding new love. Loved it when Spencer realised Brock was more important than baseball. Regardless of this small issue, the story got big ticks for dramatic events, misunderstandings and depth of feeling. If I read correctly she would have only been 2 years old and not remember it even if she understood that relationship. Cheyanne Sold by: Amazon Australia Services, Inc. The 4 year old also made reference to “He doesn’t make you upset like that bad Nolan did.”, referring to a relationship Brock had had a couple of years before. There was a lack of consistency in the language used by the youngest who slipped between bad grammar and use of some adult phrases. However I am not sure the ‘voice’ of the children was captured correctly. The inclusion of the children (Brock’s niece and nephew) and Brock’s own desire to have a family was wonderful. Rather it focused on sexual harassment and deceit within the sport, abuse and family. The story wasn’t the typical story of a jock trying to hide his sexuality. This story was a bit unique in that Spencer was an openly gay baseball player and was largely accepted by his coach and team. I really enjoyed this story where “Somehow, the geek had gotten the jock.” I have a soft spot for books about athletes and celebrities so this hit all the right buttons.

The trap for the murderer is all you would expect, but I can’t say as I like the staged suicide. I could have done without the knowing opening sequence showing the arrival of the Burtons in their red sportscar, but this script sat back and allowed the story to unfold at a steady pace. Although they are all caricatures, this village is not quite a jarring as some of the others we’ve been exposed to. The casting of Ken Russell and Francis de la Tour as the Calthrops is faintly hilarious, but everyone else, surprisingly including Harry Enfield as the prissy solicitor, is held back. I suppose it does give him more to chew on as he recovers both physically and emotionally in the backwater village of Lymstock. The primary point of view falls to Jerry Burton ( James D’Arcy) who failed to end it all on his motorbike (instead of crashing his plane in the original novel). Anyway, this has Geraldine McEwan’s Marple rather more in the background, wandering around, often looking a bit dotty, but able to make pithy remarks of substance every now and again to show her brain is still working. You can always hope you have the worst behind you. Although this is not saying much, given the awfulness that has gone before, there was just enough encouragement. It was a close-run decision whether to continue watching but, as it turned out, The Moving Finger was the best of the series so far.

Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs5/30/2023 Heck, I think this scene alone is worth the price of the book! Mercy is having the worst time not laughing as she knows the pack is hiding upstairs listening in to the whole sales pitch. But the best is when Izzy’s mom wants to know if Adam ever has trouble, ahem, getting it up. I did have to laugh, however, when Mercy starts thinking of all the natural and herbal things that are deadly when Izzy’s mom goes on about “natural” and “herbal” being “good”. Lucky for Mercy, she gives in and tries some of it. Poor Mercy, taken advantage of by Izzy’s mom with her marketing speech. Ninth in the Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series (thirteenth in the overall Mercyverse) and revolving around a VW mechanic coyote shapeshifter based in Washington state to whom a fae walking stick is firmly attached. Other books by this author which I have reviewed include When Demons Walk, Steal the Dragon, Home Improvement: Undead Edition, Fair Game, Frost Burned, Night Broken, Shifting Shadows, Dead Heat, Bone Crossed, Silver Borne, River Marked, Hunting Ground, Iron Kissed, Cry Wolf, Silence Fallen, Burn Bright, Storm Cursed, Smoke Bitten, Wild Sign, Soul Taken Urban fantasy in Hardcover edition that was published by Ace Books on Maand has 342 pages. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I received this book for free from the library in exchange for an honest review.

All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata5/29/2023 Aurora is also the kind of character that is easy to forgive, but not quick to forget. She’s kind to a fault and has a heart of gold. Aurora is the epitome of the sunshine personality type. The character interactions in Mariana Zapata’s books are what keep me glued to the pages. “Sometimes I think I know exactly what you’re going to say…and then the exact opposite comes out of your mouth…” Aurora just so happens to rent out an apartment from Tobias Rhodes, a local game warden. In the hopes of connecting to her mother’s memory, Aurora decided to return to her hometown-the last place she lived while her mother was alive. Aurora De La Torre is a heroine whom we meet upon the completion of what seems to be a year and a half of vagabond living. All Rhodes Lead Here combines all the classic elements fans of Mariana Zapata (MZ for short) have come to love. If you’re not familiar with Mariana Zapata, then you should know that she is known for her slow burn and the highly addictive grumpy sunshine romance between her main characters. Mariana Zapata writes what I would consider literary hugs. I always know what to expect in a Mariana Zapata story- a romance which is told solely from the heroine’s point of view and ends happily. “The truth was, I liked him even more for saying those words. For thinking that deeply, I liked him so much in so many ways.”Īll Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata is another stellar story from an author who keeps hitting home runs every time she releases one of her books into the world.

Sc stephens5/29/2023 Well my thoughts, hopes, dreams and any and all expectations were completely and totally blown out of the water. I was really nervous going into Thoughtful because I needed it to be amazing…I’ve been dying to get into Kellan Kyle’s head for almost 2 ½ years…a lot was on the line. The Thoughtless series is one of my favorite series of all time…one of my top three BBF’s of all time…one of my favorite couples ever…it means so much to me that even contemplating putting my feelings about it into words makes me tear up – it just has that hold over my heart. I don’t know how to talk about this series without putting my whole heart on paper…that’s how much I love it. 5+++++ “Mornin’” “It’s better to never say goodbye, to just move on, to end the lie.” “She was mine” Kisses
